Monique graduated from a Bachelor of Science (Medical Science, Immunology and Pathology) from the University of Sydney with a First Class Honours in Immunology in 2025. She completed her honours at the Charles Perkins Centre in the Mishra Lab, where she focused on optimising an intestinal organoid co-culture model with T cells to replicate immune-epithelial interactions during gut development. Through this project, she also developed an organoid analysis tool named Cellpose and MorphoLibJ Evaluation of Organoids (CAMEO), which uses machine learning to identify organoids in 2D images and compare organoid morphology between different treatment groups.

Monique has a particular interest in organoids and their application to paediatric medicine. In 2026, Monique joined the laboratory of A/Prof Anai Gonzalez-Cordero as a Research Assistant, where she hopes to expand her expertise in paediatric research by getting involved in various projects and initiatives in and out of the lab. Outside of the lab, Monique enjoys pilates, walking in nature and doing lots of puzzles (especially sudoku).
