City of Parramatta has shown its commitment to research by donating $10,000 to CMRI this week.
Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer and Lady Mayoress Jenny Dwyer have visited the labs at CMRI many times and this week they presented the cheque to CMRI’s Director Professor Roger Reddel “virtually’’ over video conference.
Cr Dwyer said anyone who has been touched by childhood illness knows, there’s nothing more devastating than when a child is diagnosed with a serious medical condition.
“Which is why the work of research institutes such as the Children’s Medical Research Institute is so critical. I am proud that City of Parramatta Council has been able to support CMRI over many years and the incredible work they do saving lives and protecting the health of our nation’s children.”
Mrs Dwyer said they were fortunate to have toured the CMRI labs several times and met the world-leading scientists to learn about the cutting-edge research happening in our own city.
City of Parramatta is also joining the ‘Fight with Five’ initiative. ‘Fight With Five’ encourages businesses to donate $5000 and they will become a partner who will have their logo appear on a DNA strand acknowledging their investment in children’s health.
