The Hills Fundraising Committee has held another incredibly successful annual Mothers’ Luncheon raising more than $65,000 for Children’s Medical Research Institute.

The annual event was held at The Hilton in Sydney and was attended by more 350 mothers,

Key speakers were CMRI’s Associate Professor Leszek Lisowski who spoke about the wonders of gene therapy and how that technology was changing the fate for many children.

“We wake up excited every day to do something that matters,’’ he said.

The day finished with a Q & A between MC John Mangos and The Today Show Extra Host Sylvia Jeffreys who paid tribute to the Hills Committee’s president Patti Payne.

“I’d like to acknowledge Patti for building a community of people behind such a wonderful cause,’’ Ms Jeffreys said.

Mother Cheralee Kemp also shared her story of raising her son Will who has a rare genetic condition and working with CMRI scientist Associate Professor Wendy Gold who hopes to find a gene therapy for Will.
