The Annual General Meeting of CMRI’s Fundraising Committees is always a fantastic opportunity for scientists and supporters to gather but this year’s event was especially significant, as the members revealed their creative ways of fundraising during a pandemic.
The committee members travelled from far and wide, including Mudgee, Gerringong, and Quirindi to report on the success they have achieved over the last 12 months despite the frustrations of lockdown.
The Goulburn Committee reported that in 2021 they managed to get 18 schools across the district to take part in Jeans for Genes Day, wearing denim to school and are aiming to get more than 20 involved in 2022.
Quirindi also engaged their local school community, setting up a cake stall at the school’s sports day. They also made sure to include QR codes linking to a fundraising page with any communication they sent to members to make donating easier.
CMRI’s Director Professor Roger Reddel thanked everyone for their incredible efforts.
“I hope you all take immense satisfaction from the role you play in our work,’’ he said. “Your faithful, constant support is what has helped us get to this point.’’
