For most people Jeans for Genes Day comes once a year – but for the team at Lexus of Chatswood it is a regular occurrence that has already raised more than $4200 this year.

Lexus of Chatswood Service Manager Scott Stoneham said as part of the McCarroll’s Automotive Group, they looked to owner Phil McCarroll who always encouraged his team to be involved in the community and give back to charity.

“My office team here at Lexus Chatswood Service wanted to have a more casual dress day, and not just as a one off but monthly so we came up with Jeans on the last Friday of every month,’’ Mr Stoneham said.

“From there it was easy to align with Jeans for Genes. First, I happen to know someone who works there and tells me about the great work being done, and secondly, it’s a pretty well-known charity fundraising day – so why not make it monthly?’’

Every month staff are encouraged to donate a note when wearing their jeans.

The whole Lexus Chatswood team took it up a notch recently when they used a recent golf day for customers to do some extra fundraising. They asked golfers to donate money at a Jeans for Genes hole, in order to improve their score, as well as holding a raffle.
