It has been such a fantastic end to 2022 to see so many of our fundraising committees holding successful events that have rallied their communities together and raised vital funds for our labs.
In recent months, many of our committees’ much-anticipated events have returned, after two years of lockdowns, and have been greeted with great excitement by their local communities.
The Canberra Committee held a Christmas in the Gardens event at two private gardens in their local area, which was very well attended.
The Gerringong Committee held their popular Quilt and Craft– which was their 30th year of the event! They had a beautiful display of quilts and were appreciative of what they said was some “very generous support’’. They were also pleased to be able to hold their Melbourne Cup Luncheon once again and said the day made CMRI’s researchers “the real winners!’’
And our Wagga Wagga Committee was finally able to hold their Christmas Fair, which is a real highlight on the local event calendar. Committee president Shannon Corbett said the whole Riverina really banded together once again.
“After a two-year hiatus, the fair was back, bold and more beautiful than ever,’’ she said. “We had 90 stalls from Sydney, Melbourne, the ACT, and locally, with more than 3000 people through the gates. Our committee put in an enormous effort, and we are so proud to be able to support CMRI and their crusade against childhood disease.’’
