Children’s Medical Research Institute is pleased to announce that two of its long term supporters - Mrs Diana Mahony and Earle Page College, University of New England - have received Australia Day awards from their local city councils.
Mrs Diana Mahony was recognised by Parramatta City Council as the 2011 Australia Day Senior Citizen of the Year, for her enormous contribution to cancer research. Together with the other members of the Judith Hyam Memorial Trust Fund for Cancer Research, Diana’s efforts have raised $1.5 million over the past 20 years.
Students from Earle Page College are recipients of Community Event of the Year for organising an annual epic coastal run that has raised more than $260,000 for CMRI over the past three decades. An amazing achievement!
Lorimer Dods Professor and Director of Children’s Medical Research Institute Roger Reddel said, “Congratulations to both Diana Mahony and the Earle Page College students for this well deserved recognition.
“Your energetic and community-spirited support of the Institute’s work is greatly appreciated by all of us.”
