Vyoma completed her PhD in Medicine at the University of Sydney in 2019. Her PhD work was on investigating the functional effects of human monocyte subsets with increased cardiovascular risk factors. Shortly after her PhD award Vyoma worked at The Westmead Institute of Medical Research (WIMR), University of Sydney, where she studied platelet-monocyte interaction biology in cardiovascular patients. Later she joined the Centenary Institute, University of Technology, to investigate various epigenetic mechanisms in respiratory disorders. Vyoma’s post-doctoral research used cutting-edge next-generation sequencing and proteomic approaches to investigate chromatin remodelling and epigenetic changes occurring in respiratory disorders. Vyoma joined the Stem Cell Medicine Group in July 2021 with her current research on investigating the pathophysiology of Usher syndrome using iPS cell-derived retinal organoids and to develop novel therapeutic approaches using gene therapy. In her spare time, Vyoma loves cooking, sports, art, interior designing and travelling.
