Charlie Morgan is a chemical biologist with 12+ years research experience advancing novel chemical genetic and protein engineering strategies to advance discoveries in biomedical research.

Prior to joining TVRU in 2021, Charlie completed postdoctoral training at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge UK. He led a Blue Skies collaboration with Discovery Sciences at AstraZeneca where he advanced expanded genetic code techniques and bio-orthogonal ligand tethering to selectively target kinases in cells.

He also developed new molecular tools to map the serotonergic system in the mice brain. In 2016 he was awarded a Mirzayan Science Policy Fellowship at the US National Academy of Sciences.

He earned his PhD from the University of California San Francisco, where he worked with Prof. Jim Wells to develop novel chemical genetic strategies to turn on proteases and kinases in cells. Charlie grew up in rural Oregon USA and lived in Germany and Ecuador as an exchange student during high school.
