Hills Committee

Hills Committee

Established in 1991

The Hills Committee was established in 1991 when a group of mothers in the Hills District rallied together for some serious fundraising. Patti Payne, the President, had been a member of the Beecroft Committee in the 60's and 70's, motivated by the loss of her first daughter as a result of a genetic condition.

Their signature event is “The Mothers’ Day Luncheon” attracting close to 500 people each year held at the Hilton, Sydney. The highlight of the day is when MC, John Mangoes interviews a celebrity mum, like Ann Sanders, Chris Bath, Deborah Thomas, Kylie Kwong, and Georgie Parker to name a few.

Other fundraising initiatives include charity race days, selling Jeans for Genes merchandise and Christmas cards.

There are so many happy stories to tell and the committee are to be congratulated, but a highlight was Kylie Kwong and her mother Pauline cooking up a storm of both delicacies and hilarity with John Mangos trying to keep control.
