Beecroft Committee
Established in 1965
In 1965 a group of young mothers were inspired after attending a function, at which Sir Lorimer Dods (co-founder of Children’s Medical Research Institute) was guest speaker.
The ladies of the Beecroft Committee enjoy using their culinary skills to provide lunch for groups visiting the CMRI Discovery Days, Teachers’ Forums & Student Seminars. The year is also full of fundraising events including mixed card days, charity golf day, open gardens and craft days.
"Our fond memories include the Good Day Out at Jazz held in the mountains in a spectacular garden setting serving tea, coffee and slices and listening to the great jazz. Making lamingtons in very adverse conditions - an old scout hall, using various forms of trays for drying them! All good fun and also a good fundraiser, which is what we are about."
